Fun Street Event on Santa Fe Drive: Aug. 4

Last First Friday, revellers enjoyed touring the Art District on Santa Fe.  The street was closed to traffic, food and music was partaken by visitors, and many galleries had special events.  Artists on Santa Fe Gallery + Studios had a "paint-out" on the sidewalk.  Here's just a peek at some of our more creative participants:

1st Friday, August 4 Event, 6-9 PM

You're in for a special treat next week!  The monthly Art District Art Walk on Friday, August 4th, should be a great celebration.  Santa Fe Drive will be closed to all vehicles, making room for frolicking in the street.  Just a few of the activities are as follows:

  • Santa Fe & 8th and Santa Fe & 11th, in the street  Super talented youth from the Cope Boys & Girls Club and West High Mural Club (led by talented Ratha Sok) are joining together to create murals in a paint-by-numbers approach.  Look for the tents at these intersections and grab some chalk!

  • 675 Santa Fe Drive, on the lawn (Byers Library)  Enjoy relaxing music and rest your legs as you paint your canvas.  Don’t just look at art – make your own & take it home!
  • 747 Santa Fe Drive, on the sidewalk (Artists on Santa Fe)  Participate in “Mark Your Mark” – a jointly created canvas!

  • 909 Santa Fe Drive, in the back (Access Gallery)  Access Gallery is dedicated to increasing access to the arts for people with disabilities.  Create a soft sculpture, inspired by Outside Artist Judith Scott.  Add fabric, yarn and string to this organic piece!

Artists on Santa Fe Gallery + Studios, is featuring the fanciful, thought-provoking constructions of Tracy and Adam Teitelbaum.  Stop in for refreshments and meet the artists!
