Kathy M Friesz is an abstract painter. Her pieces are initially developed from her intuitive awareness of shape and composition. Once the foundation of the piece is expressed on canvas, raw linen or oil paper, playful experimentation is introduced with the use of a variety of mixed media. Oil pastels, graphite and textural materials all play a role in creating pieces which become ethereal portals, places and spaces emerge. Additionally, her discerning use of color and texture complete Kathy’s work which has been described as “environmentally provocative”.
