Mirror and Mystery
with artist Patricia J Finley
DENVER, CO — Water is both a mirror and a mystery - an element that reflects, distorts and transforms. This collection explores the ephemeral beauty of water through abstraction, capturing the interplay of movement, light and texture. Each piece distills the essence of fluidity, especially as Patricia uses resin as her medium, mixing colors into clear resin and painting with the resulting colored resin.
The reflectivity of resin invites viewers to engage with the ever-shifting nature of this vital element.
Water is universal, yet personal. The very nature of abstract art allows space for individual interpretation. Moments of serenity are offered via the depths of perception, thereby allowing immersion in the fluidity of both the medium and the element of water.
AND - ABOUT ME
Artist Statement
I create with paint, pigment and ink mixed into resin. Resin’s extraordinary possibilities are exactly why I chose the challenge of creating with this unruly medium. Each piece reveals the reason that I create with resin. Complexity is revealed under the deceptively simple surface with startling clarity. Color leaps out from under resin's cool surface, magnified with a jewel-like intensity. Shapes seem to move.
My art stays alive on the wall, presenting nearly endless possibilities for discovery.
