DENVER, CO—Artists on Santa Fe Gallery is proud to present “Layers of Intent,” a striking new collection of modern abstract art by Christine Segal, on view October 16 - November 15, 2026, at 747 Santa Fe Drive. Her works contain bold textures, fluid forms, and unexpected color palettes, built up with paint on canvas and board, layer over layer. The public is invited to view and purchase work during an artist reception on Third Friday, October 16, 6 – 9 p.m., as well as the First Friday Art Walk on November 6, 5 – 9 p.m. and during regular gallery hours, Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m.– 5 p.m., and Sundays, Noon – 4 p.m., or by appointment
Segal builds her richly textured surfaces through layering and scraping to reveal what lies beneath. This interplay of concealment and revelation mirrors how we perceive the world — nothing seen all at once but rather unfolding slowly over time.
Each painting carries the memory of its own making: earlier marks resurface, accidents become intention, and the final composition holds the weight of every intuitive choice along the way. The works invite the viewer to slow down and look deeper to find the story taking shape.
Segal’s artistic journey began in 2002, when she left her corporate job and enrolled in an introductory painting class at the Art Students League of Denver. There she continued her studies with Kevin Weckbach, Mark Nelson, Molly Davis, and Ron Hicks. She paints daily in her Denver studio, staying curious and creative.
Additional fine art by gallery members and resident artists, including paintings, ceramics, jewelry, mix media and sculpture, will also be on display.
Artists on Santa Fe Gallery, 747 Santa Fe Drive, has a rotating showcase of member artists ranging from ceramics, sculptors and painters to printmakers and jewelers. The building is also home to the working studios of 25 + artists. Visitors are invited to explore and discover this exciting and enduring creative hub. Hours during construction are Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, Noon to 4 p.m., or by appointment. Open extended evening hours for art walks on the First and Third Friday of each month.
